The influx of immigrants, squatters, criminal organizations, businesses, tourists will come In such a quick manner while the airport is being build and especially after, that I can tell you it will overload the City of Panglao if not managed well. Pollution will occur as well as more need of power and water, Where is all of the trash gonna go to? Where is all the water gonna come from? Is there a hospital near by supporting the need of additional beds? Is there a new set of Fire Departments going to be built dotting Panglao to support the increased population? Is there a staging area for the merchandise and products International airplanes going to carry? Are there new schools to be built? With a large infrastructure like an international airport, supporting infrastructure will be required of it also.
I was against this project at first, because it doesn’t open up the East side of Bohol to tourism logistics, however, if it creates jobs then I am ok with it. The serenity of Poblacion Panglao will disappear, guaranteed, to make room for more populations. Just read up on the history of Mactan before and after the International airport.
